Beach Enhancement

Beach enhancement often refers to beach restoration, but for the sake of our definition, it can include beach restoration but also enhance the beach without restoring it. It can enhance the overall aesthetics of the beach, if for instance there are boulders, concrete pieces, beach rock and debris found along the beach are moved. Sometimes it is necessary to move these items to prevent locals and tourists from hurting themselves getting in or out of the ocean. Other times it may be necessary to move these items to prevent sand accretion in an area.

Vegetation is also another important aspect of beach enhancement. Vegetation can play an important role in protecting beach erosion by creating a barrier and slowing the amount of sand transported from the area. We always suggest using local or plants indigenous to the Caribbean if vegetation is going to be considered.
